The Integrated Mindanaons Association for Natives Inc (IMAN) staffs joined the peace rally to show full support to the Bangsamoro Basic law in Municipal Plaza Poblacion, Pikit Cotabato last February 10, 2015.

The mass action was dubbed, “SIMULTANEOUS PEACE RALLIES IN SUPPORT OF THE BANGSAMORO BASIC LAW AS THE SOLUTION TO THE MINDANAO CONFLICT” and was led by the Mindanao Alliance for Peace (MAP) and allied Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).

The objective of the mass actions is to show support to the call of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III for congress to fast track the passage of the BBL without further delay, while conducting investigations on the January 25, 2015 Mamasapano incident are underway.

In a statement released by MAP, Dr. Abdulmanan Gayak said that “While we condemn in the highest form the unfortunate Mamasapano incident that led to the death of 44 SAF members, the martyrdom of 18 members of Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), wounding 12 others, and the killing of 4 innocent civilians, we sincerely address this appeal to the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines to once and for all, pass the BBL to avoid another Mamasapano incident in the future”.

”To all peace loving individuals and groups, locales and nationals, please unite with us, and help us realize our dream for a sustainable and lasting peace in the Bangsamoro as soon as possible. For it is always our conviction that prolonging this uncertain situation will always open opportunities for spoilers of peace to strengthen their ranks. We are afraid they might succeed in derailing the peace talks that will further aggravate the living conditions of both the Muslim and the Non-Muslim inhabitants of Bangsamoro”, Dr. Gayak supplementar statement..

Addressing his call to both Houses of congress, Dr. Gayak continued, “To reiterate, these peaceful mass actions are an appeal, “For the sake of sustainable peace and progress, pass the Bangsamoro Basic Law without undue delay. Please do not make peace, the BBL, and the future of the people here in Mindanao, as hostages of Mamasapano incident”.

Participants in the protests were tri-people in North Cotabato composed of the Islamized Bangsamoro, the non-Islamized Bangsamoro or sometimes called Indigenous Peoples or Lumads, and the settlers or those whose ancestors originated from Luzon and the Visayas. The North Cotabato Board Member Dulia Sultan said in her speech in the early part of the program, “The lack of coordination is the main reason of the killings, hence the people should not be one sided in the Mamasapano incident for there were both government troopers and MILF troopers killed, Pikit Vice Mayor Mangansakan also added: “I have experienced all out wars under late President Ferdinand Marcos and President Joseph Estrada. So, let us not quarrel, nor blame each other”.

Representatives from different sectoral groups such as, youth, professionals, farmers, women’s, tribal and religious also send their grief to the incident but all appeal to the immediate passage of BBL to the congress. The proposed Bangsamoro Government when well-established is an initial step towards peace, harmony and development in Mindanao region”.  It is not all-out-war, not impeachment of PNoy but passage of the BBL is the solution to the crisis. They appealed to Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to reconsider their decisions.
