IMAN leads a Consultation and Needs Assessment in the selected Schools of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao

The Integrated Mindanaons Association for Natives (IMAN) Incorporated in coordination with the Municipal and Barangay local government unit of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao conducted and spearheaded a consultation and initial assessment in the selected schools of Datu Montawal, Maguindanao. The selected schools included Batungkayo Elementary School, Baya Elementary School, Balogo Elementary School, and Maridigao Elementary School.

The purpose of the activity was to gather data and identify the needs of the pupils in the course of education through consultative sessions. The consultation and needs assessment session of every school was attended by the Barangay Local Government Unit Personnel, representatives of the different community sectors, School Principals, and school teachers.

In Maridigao Elementary School, the Lack of school building, school supplies, comfort room, sports facilities, and source of potable water occurred to be the main concerns and necessity of the pupils. However, the entire body unanimously pointed out the lack of source of potable water system as the urgent need of the pupils in their school.

In Balogo Elementary School, the major problems identified were the lack of classrooms, arm chairs, comfort rooms, source of potable water, and blackboards. They also pointed out the necessity of classroom renovations and the need of seminars and workshops in teaching methods skills and strategies for the teachers. Among the problems mentioned, the need for school building was the major concern and priority.

In Baya Elementary School, the same problems were determined and identified by the attendees. The lack of classrooms, arm chairs, comfort rooms, source of potable water and blackboards. Classroom renovations, seminars and workshops in teaching methods skills and strategy for the teachers were also a necessity. Just like in Balogo Elementary School, school building was their major concern.

In Batungkayo Elementary School, the need of classroom facilities, stage, concrete pathways, bulletin boards, and visual aids were their main concerns.  Renovation of classrooms and construction of stage were determined as their priority.

The result of the assessment would be the basis for the appropriate and precise project to be implemented.
