IMAN’s iREAD Project successfully launched

September 21, 2015- The Integrated Mindanaons Associations for Natives officially launched its newest project supported by the Gerry Roxas Foundation as a part of Philippine-American fund at 8th Avenue Convention Hall, Kabacan North Cotabato. The project is entitled “Innovation for Rural Education Advancement (iREAD) for Moro children in Mindanao.
The said event was attended by the Executive Director of Gerry Roxaas Foundation, Maam Ma. Rosamund R. Parado, Regional Education Supervisor, Sir Agney Taruc, Local Government and Barangay Local Government Unit Representatives, District Supervisors, Principals and PTA Presidents from the beneficiary schools including the identified target pupils.
The iREAD is a two-year project in three municipalities in MAguindanao and one municipalities in North Cotabato and KIdapawan City. The goal of the project is to improve the quality education of Moro children in Mindanao especially in literacy and numeracy and essential life skills in conflict affected communities of Bangsamoro. The project is expected to benefit 1000 slow learners, 500 out of school youth, 25 school teachers and 30 community facilitators.
In its 58 years in service, the Gerry Roxas Foundation believes in Integrity, Service and Excellence as stated by Maam Monnette, she also added that the Department of Education side by side will implement and continue to initiate this project.
The District Supervisor of the different school beneficiaries also gave their message of commitment and support stating how thankful they are to the Phil-Am, GRF and IMAN for choosing their schools . They commit all the support they have in terms of financial and manpower.
Regional Education Supervisor, Sir Agney Taruc addresses the support of the DepEd Region XII stating “One of our priority are the children in areas where peace and governance are challenge, He also hope project like this will truly benefit those pupils in terms of technology as knowing how to use it is already a must in the modern world.
The DepEd committed and establish System Monitoring Proceess as per stated in Memorandum of Agreement, first, safeguard the investment, second is to monitor if the gadgets was used appropriately associated with its impact and the third one is the DEpEd should adopt this project into a regular basis.
The schools beneficiaries are Pedtad Elementary School, Pagagwan Elementary School, Patadon Elemetary School, Langkuno Elementary School and Baya Elementary School.
