Respect Education Program Launching

IMAN, along with the dignitaries from DEPED Division of North Cotabato, District Supervisors and the teachers from Maguindanao and North Cotabato officially launch in May 22, 2015 the Respect Education Program. This series of pilot project aims to promote “Better Grades, Better Behavior”.

This project is executed by Ministries of Respect Education Foundation, CORDAID Netherlands in collaboration with other relevant national partners in Philippines such as the DEPED (Department of Education) and PASALI Philippines.  The child friendly approach of this project will significantly contribute to the development of our pupils thus, boosting his/her self confidence.

This global project addresses a wide range of improve quality education by creating a learning environment where every child feels safe, accepted and able to fully develop him/her, with a special focus on dealing with traumatized pupils in daily teaching. The program is based on the concepts of Adaptive learning, Cooperative learning and Multiple Intelligence and contributes to the child centered approach of the K to 12 education curriculum. It promotes the development of 21st century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication. Children from different ethnic groups and backgrounds learn to understand and respect each other which contribute to peace. It also includes psycho-social component called PREPARE that will address possible trauma’s affecting the children due to the conflict.

The Respect Education program will pilot on 6 Elementary Schools, 4 from North Cotabato and 2 from Maguindanao. The schools in North Cotabato includes Buluan, Siento Trenta, Pedtad and Nangaan Elementary School while Batungkayo and Pagagawan Elementary School in Maguindanao respectively.
